Masking tape

Here's my kitchen tip for today: Masking Tape.
Masking tape what?

No. That's the answer.

The answer to labeling all that stuff that goes into my freezer and fridge. I keep the roll on my fridge. Tear off a little. Add name and date.

It peels off easily.

It's easy to write on.

Less UFOs (Unidentified Food Objects) in my fridge and freezer.

I am glad that I am not the only one with UFO's in my fridge!

I should do this. Really, I should.

I found masking tape to fall off/freeze off the item I put in the freezer and I end up still with UFOs so I just keep a black Sharpie marker on my fridge to mark things. And I still find that I can get the marker off the container if I need to use for something else later. :)

I need to do that. I always intend to write on my freezer bags but forget until they are filled and then they are too wet, hot, or floppy to write on.

I have teenage boys--nothing stays in there long enough to bother labeling it!

I do the same thing! I use it mainly for items heading into the fridge. I make sure to always put the date. How many times have we pulled something out wondering when we made that?!

OFF-TOPIC ALERT - replying to a comment on my blog!

cc - Last year at age 5 I chose one more year of early intervention instead of kindergarten. His services were reduced to once a week with speech & OT because he didn't need a full program anymore, and I enrolled him in a typical preK program (he has therapeutic support there through behavioral healthcare).

Now that he is 6 and approaching kindergarten, the psychologist & SLP are recommending 1st grade due to his cognitive abilities, which are pretty high although not superhero. :)

Everyone else I have talked to, including other professionals, feel kindergarten would be better. But it is hard to stand up to the team. I also want to push for an extended day so that he can have his speech & OT without missing kindergarten (only 2 hr 45 min long).

Haven't met autism consultant yet as was being told he was too high-functioning to be eligible for her services (I have since addressed that issue and she will be at the IEP meeting - I will be fighting for her to be on his IEP in some way).

Would love to discuss further if you are open - wheresthebox (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks either way for your input!

Excellent tip. I would permanent sharpie marker with it and be set for all kitchen labeling.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting. :)

Of course, you know I'd been worrying about UFOs in your freezer.

This is a brilliant idea.

Great tip. I've been meaning to pick up a couple rolls, JIC. Now I definitely have a use for them!

We use a white board marker, right on the plastic container. It would probably work on a zipper bag (if it has a place to write on it). The white board markers don't wash off very easily, but they come off if you rub with my finger. Whatever. I prefer to avoid adhesives when at all possible! :D ~Jen
