It's too hot to think

When we visited cousins in central California last month, we thought it was very hot.

The kids played in the hose for hours, while the adults sipped iced tea in a lovely air conditioned home.

Today in our NW town with perfect 80 degree summers, it is supposed to be 108 degrees.

We have no cute wading pools to play in. More importantly, we have no air conditioned home. Our inside thermometer read 91 last night at 9pm. No one is sleeping. Our electronics have started over-heating and breaking.

Heaven help me while I try to plan our escape.

I'd take some of that heat--it's CHILLY here!

Ugh, I know the feeling. We had no air most of this summer. Temps got to be in the 90's in our house too. It sucks, to every degree.

I sincerely hope you can find escape and stay cool. We finally had to invest in a window unit and it's getting us through. *hugs*

108??? YUCK! I would be hanging out in the air conditioning too!

Oh my word. I can't believe that you are in 108 without a/c. I would lose my mind! Can you invest in a swamp cooler/fan?

Oh My Gosh! There isn't enough iced tea in the world for that!

That was last week in San Diego--I sympathize--it was miserable. It's okay if you don't move at all, but who has time for that?

Make like a college student and get faaans! Fans got me through August in the south on the third story with no AC. If the air is moving, it's easier to at least pretend it is cool. Good luck!

Oh that water looks so great right now. I hear you on the heat. It's making us feel a bit sluggish.

Don't come to Texas... it's just as bad here - it's been a recording breaking summer for both the high temps and total number of days over 100. We were in northern Ohio last week and truly enjoyed daily highs that were cooler than our normal TX nightly lows! I truly love summer but it's about this time every year when I start yearning for fall.

Oh no! I hate that kind of hot hot heat.

See, now I just can't even pretend I know what 108 feels like. Tell ya what ~ I'll trade ya some of that heat for a little snow in winter!

okay first of love your photos as always i wish i knew how to take photos like that your such great photographer. The hot weather sounds just fab to me, i think we had like one nice day all summer here near Toronto, Canada so I'm jealous.

Oh good grief!!! That is stinking hot. I can't sleep when it is that hot either. We do have air conditioning (not that we have used it much this summer, it has been unusually cool) but it doesn't work upstairs in the bedrooms well. That is what you get with an old house I suppose.

I have been begging mother nature for some really hot weather this summer but I'm grateful it isn't THAT hot.
You should quick run out at grab one of those small little plastic pudgy pools for $10 and fill it with cold water. That is all we have here. It works for cooling off anyway. That and ice tea.
Good luck!

You should really more to some place cooler and wetter -- like Arizona.

GAH!!! 108?! I'm sweating just thinking of it. It's been so cold here that the leaves are starting to turn. For real.

You can pack some of that heat and send it my way. We are working on setting a record for the 8th month in a row of record low temperatures. *sigh*

A garden hose & sprayer can fix some of your woes. Better yet, fill some water balloons. Instead of your kids fanning you while you lie in a hammock under a shade tree, they can bomb you with cold water balloons. It's a win-win: you get cooled off and the kids get to bomb mom.

Most of the time our summers are hot and humid. There has been some weird weather throughout the country this summer. Hot where it's usually cold, but cool where it's usually hot.

Wow, I've been reading about record highs in some areas and record lows in others. Triple digits not unheard of in some parts of the country, but that does seem unusually hot for the NW? I've lived in areas where it gets that hot but not w/o air conditioning! ICK!! Can't imagine... hope it gets better soon!

Hi,
Just peeking in on you again as I do from time to time. I don't usually comment although I enjoy your blog. I noticed that you also get Chinese comments, which I get on autismgames. These are very strange messages when translated.

Ugh, I can't imagine not having AC!

The weather sure has been weird this year, hasn't it? We had the wettest, coldest spring! Now it is hot, but at least I have an evaporative cooler (or in less fancy terms, a swamp cooler) :o).
